Seismic Imaging: a pratical approach

34 Seismic Imaging 1.5 Conclusion In summary, a seismic record contains: • direct arrivals, • refracted waves, • surface waves, • reflected waves, • diffractions, • multiples, and • noise unrelated to the seismic shot. The various waves can be categorized according to their characteristic properties. One of the most distinguishing properties is a wave’s time-distance curve. The acquisition geometry and the type of seismic survey must be taken into consideration. The waves can be separated by filters such as ( f, k) filters in the ( f, k) domain.
